Prophet of Freedom

David W. Blight’s Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom, was the recipient of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in History. It tells the story of Frederick Douglass, born in 1818, who escaped slavery to become one of the greatest orators and writers of his generation, as well as a leading abolitionist and political activist who is regarded as one of the most significant figures in American history. “It is a book that speaks to our own time as well as Douglass’... a brilliant book.” (Wall Street Journal) David W. Blight, a professor at Yale University, will be in conversation with Judge Richard Gergel, author of Unexampled Courage.
